The one on the right looks adorable like its covering its bottom lip with the top and being like “Hey guys I can war too.”

After ensuring Viktoria was in good care, Heidi immeidately charged back along the path that the Ullianor knights had taken them, making mental notes of landmarks. She had some unfinished business to attend to.
She found the creature sharpening a massive onyx war-ax against the side of a cliff face, looking bizarrely at ease. When it saw the sister approach and dismount, it began to laugh, its massive muscled body shaking with mirth.
“Unwise.” It managed to say in badly garbled imperial before launching itself at the short sister.
“NEW RULE, EVERY DAEMON I SEE DIES, NO EXCEPTION” Heidi shrieked, producing a massive two handed chainsword.
“BEHOLD THE GREAT COMMUNICATOR YOU UNHOLY CHAOS FILTH!”
The night was filled with the sounds of great ripping and tearing, along witht he pained moans of the massive two story high daemon being slowly quartered upon a great slab.
“YOU’RE HUGE!” the sister declared, huffing at her sword getting caught again in muscly tissue.
“That -huff- means -huff- you must have huge guts!”
Viktoria shrugged, dispelling her concerns.
“Its Heidi. She’ll be fine.”

Massive landers, bedecked with guns, and looking as though they could carry a small titan. The symbol of the Mechanicus marked upon their side, as they lowered themselves down to the coordinates given by the Torch of Will. Their shadows dwarfed much of the landscape, setting down their massive ramps lowered and tanks poured forth onto the ash wastes. In squadron, platoon and company, they rolled out. Forming up in front of the landers they awaited their vaunted Colonel Joesph Victus, and Major Daniel Hogan.
“The Arch Magos believes it ill advised to take your command tank off the lander sir.” Piped up Victus’s comms officer. “Well then you tell him he can come down here and carry me. If the Omnissiah’s Wrath doesn’t roll, neither do I.” Climbing inside of his Stormblade command tank, he rolled it down the ramp, followed soon after by the Baneblade Traitor’s Demise, which Major Hogan was hanging half out of. “We’ll leave the super heavy companies on the landers for now. If we need them, we’ll deploy them. Might as well do something to make the Arch Magos happy for now. But keep em on stand by, I want no delays when we have to roll out.”
Victus picked up his handset and opened a wide band for the Imperials in the area. “This is Colonel Joseph Victus of the 457th Ryza Armored Regiment. All Imperial units respond, what’s the sitrep?”
“Vait, did I hear that korrectly?” Intelios’s general commissar is named Vicktus, who is an orphan. He begins to think if this colonel is Vicktus’ long lost brother. Then he thinks about it again, and realizes that it would be impossible.
“Sir, do you think that this Colonel Victus is related to-“
“No, never. His family vas killed by Dark Eldar. There cannot be any relationship.”
“But sir don’t you think tha-“
“No, zat vill be all Lieutenant.” Intelios thinks about it for another second, then realizes he hasn’t replied yet.
“Ah, ja, this is Kommissar 821363 Intelios of ze Cadian 26th. Right now, ve have eliminated much of the Chaos ground forcez. Though vith zat new ship down, ve could be expecting more. Zer is alzo the 4th company here, as vell as PDF forces. Ve could all use a good rezupply. I’m alzo missing 7 Valkyries, zo if you see them please send them my way. Danke.”
“Sir, are you completely sure that-“
“Den Mund halten!”
“Sorry sir.” 172634 felt bad for upsetting his commissar. At least he wasn’t shot.
Viktoria and her party heard the news later than Victus’ group, and as such were surprised to hear of no less than two previously unknown guard regiments on the planet.
“Do you recognize either of them” Viktoria asked Gallus, who offered a shrug in reply.
She also turned to look at the Ulimbic and their colonel-commissar, but they all seemed far more concerned with real guard responsibilities, the ulimbic forming good battle order and perimeter security details while Bae’nor argued with the guards of a massive fortress door big enough to drive two imperial super-heavies through side-by-side. Upon close inspection Viktoria realized that the mountain doors were actually made from old refined and reinforced Imperial battleship hulls, explaining why no one had yet managed to blast through them, despite clear signs that several had tried.
At the crest of the valley which lead to the rally point however, she spotted a few tunics that looked strange. Perhaps it was the men of this ‘Victus’ fellow, it was too hard to say.
Grabbing the Vox, Viktoria apoke up to everyone on the line.
“This is Inquisitor Viktoria, I have authority over all imperial units in this operational area. Meet us at the following coordinates…”
She rattled off a set of numbers indicating the 4th and Ulimbics present location. She hoped that the vox line was secure from anyone who might have been listening.
She was feeling pensive about the new arrivals. In theory they would not be needed, after all this was a mission of mercy rather than a conquest, however the skies had begun to take on a strange character, with ever darker clouds and strange lightning storms picking up at increasingly rapid paces. It was characteristic of warp storms she had researched as an acolyte. She dearly hoped she was wrong.
Inquisitorial Nightblogging III: Xenos heresy.
- Viktoria: so according to dark eldar lore
- Viktoria: in theory there are vastly more dark eldar than actual eldar
- Viktoria: or at least that will be the case very very soon
- Viktoria: As far as I know theres nothing preventing them from breeding and their vampiric soul leeching capacity prevents death from normative means for most of their warrior castes and elites
- Viktoria: so eventually they will just be the only eldar left, again in theory
- Viktoria: im not sure if regular eldar outnumber DE or how eldar breeding even works with the whole slaanesh thing
- Viktoria: but the eldar feel much more inclined to try and cheat death by using things like wraithlords and wraithguard
- Viktoria: because they obviously must fear true death due to the implication of slaanesh eating their souls
- Viktoria: but then that doesnt necessarily mean that all eldar dont have souls
- Viktoria: and if they do still have souls they must be capable of reproducing
- Viktoria: but if that was true then the whole thing of them being a dying race is suddenly kind of moot
- Viktoria: because theres no reason for them to be unless theres something inherently wrong with the birthing process
- Viktoria: Basically I really want to know where eldar babies come from.
- Heidi: I worry about you sometimes, Vikki. Please go to sleep.
- Viktoria: Well I bloody well cant with you staring at me through the air vent now can I
- Heidi: That's your problem.

((Thanks for killing it. I would have wanted it bloodier, but that was good too.))As The Laceration fell towards the planet, the chaos vessels sent out a vox saying in a translatable low gothic “Thank you.” . The Litany of Torment ignores this, and resumes killing the remaining ships. The Laceration Screeches through the atmosphere, causing a very annoying noise..Whatever is going on inside must either be chaos rituals or Imperial Prayers. They are all finally set free from their curse
Around an hour after Bae’nor and his group arrived, Intelios- still taunting various phrases towards his troops in space german- walked into the camp. He takes his hat and waves it towards the guards.
“Guten tag!” He shouts. “You all better be Imperial, because these Schweinhundes” He motions towards his squad “can barely run. I mean zeriously, who can’t run with full packs.” He then looks upwards at the plummeting Chaos Ship “Alzo, vat iz zat thing?”
(Sorry for the delay but sometimes life takes no breaks. If I am still welcome, let this be my opening then.)
A massive Adeputs Mechanicus ship warps into system and makes all speed towards the planet Ulianor. The Arch Mechanicus ship Glory of Ryza immediately hailed the Torch of Will
“Battleship Torch of Will, this is Arch Mechanicus vessel Glory of Ryza, it has been long since Ulimbia, I see you are engaged. I request all targeting info you have obtained, as well as landing zones suitable for heavy armor. Omnissiah and Emperor be with you.”
The massive ship, larger than an Armageddon class Battleship, and carrying battle group Crucius slid into the fray with it’s escort ships, and added it’s weight of fire to that of the rest of the Imperial naval forces.
One of the few members of the 4th peeked out of his heavy bolter dugout.
“More friendlies? Huh. We thought we picked up traces of friendly Valkyries dancing about but couldnt be sure. The day’s been a bit crazier than anyone expected.”
At that, the trooper nodded at the burning wreck filling the sky.
“Beats me as to what that thing is, but its dead and we killed it. Good enough for me. Come on, follow one of the guides back at camp, he should be able to get you to where the main group is located. Apparently they havent made it into the local city yet.”
…
Elsewhere, in high orbit over Ullianor
“You said it would work you useless whelp!”
A hulking chaos lord, clad in the armor of the word bearers traitor legion gripped the neck of a frail looking psyker.
“You said you would have found it by now! WHERE IS IT? WHERE is the Maledictum? We have floated over this dustbin of a planet for weeks, and now when we are discovered you come to me with excuses!”
Not waiting for a response, the lord snapped the psykers neck and tossed his body across the bridge.
“Your trick with that posessed capitol ship failed as well. The dark gods grow furious at our wanton waste of their gifts.”
He turned to address a silent group of psykers.
“Khorne would have my head of a pike for consorting you scum, but the Maledictum is worth the risk. Find me it, use all of your resources, and get me my prize!”
One cultist shambled forward, covered in carvings.
“Oh g-great lord Umagon, there is a way, the other desert men of Dune, they have long summoned the dark gods, we could-“
“Explain to me why you have not already used such readily available resources, or you will die too. I was told the Maledictum was on this world by my lords, it is written. It should have been a simple matter to simply find the device!”
Another word bearer, at the helm of the command ship, sounded an alarm.
“Incomming loyalist vessel. Very, very large. Even with the Seers illusions we wont be able to fool them for long. Whats your order?”
Lord Umagon took a deep breath.
“It appears that things have escalated. Call the ships off, but not before you and all your kin get off of my ship, get on that planet, and bring these Dune men into line. When I return I will bring the full force of my warband. More than enough to turn the deserts of this world into glass. Pray that you have found the Maledictum by then, or you will be obliterated along with this world.”
“Oh, and one more thing, dont let any of the imperials get off that planet alive. Summon your warp energies and let the Eyes gaze fall on this world. I refuse to let the inquisitor steal away another of our relics!”
The fleet of damaged chaos vessels began pulling away as a few carefully hidden drop pods shot through the atmosphere, which was becoming stormy and warp-ridden. It was clear that this would be the last chance to land on Ulianor.

Meanwhile in space the battle wages on.The Litany of Torment and Torch of the Will were mercilessly pounded the Chaos Frigates and Cruisers. There was only a fraction left of the original fleet, but then, two things happened. The First thing is that the everything in orbit and on the planet lost power. The second is what caused it. From the warp came a ship, so vile, it is feared by even the daemons. Its name causes men and women to die of fright, Daemons to flee, even the mighty Astartes shudder within their power armor. It is known as The Laceration among spacefarers who know of it’s bloody history, but it’s true name is The Litany of the Emperor.
thousands of years before, This Emperor Class Battleship set sail on it’s maiden voyage from mars, in M35. It never reached it’s destination in Obscurus. Since then, it has been seen plowing through ships, devastating space stations, nearly destroying an Astartes Battle Barge, it has seen heretical action. Not much is known about what is going on inside, but it must be horrible.
When it exited the warp, it fired an EMP blast towards the planet. The ships’ crews were disoriented as to what had just happened. Those with Bionic implants were either in extreme pain, or moderate pain. The Techpriests were crying for the machines, themselves, and what will happen to the machines.
The Valkyries were able to glide down safely to the surface. But the Las weapons would not work.
172634 watched the skies, and uttered “Only the Emperor can save us all.”
About 5 minutes later, power is restored.
(I had this in a dark heresy campaign, so I’m sharing with you our pain. Plus we never destroyed it, only sent it running. It was much worse in the game. )
Gallus sucked on a cigar, one boot on the neck of a traitor guardsman’s neck and the other on a pile of captured enemy guns. Naturally, with the ulimbics help, the chaos scum had been obliterated, and at little loss too.
Before lengthy introductions with his Ulimbic counterparts could begin, two pieces of news came by the satisfied colonel.
“Sir! Viktoria and that group of mounted locals has been spotted, they’ll be here in five!”
Gallus nodded, grinning. He knew those rough riders would get the job done.
“The other piece of news, trooper?”
“All our guns stopped working.”
Gallus blinked.
“Haah, amusing, soldier. Care to clarify?”
“Currently any and all las based weaponry fails to fire. Given that 95% of the unit is armed with Las-SMG’s, Hotshot lasguns, hotshot laspistols, and hellguns, it effectively means that besides our four heavy bolters, twenty grenade launchers and fourty or so flamer units this regiment is reduced to combat knives.”
“What.”
Soon Viktoria and her band rode up to the colonel.
“Gallus! Its good to see your friendly albiet chewed up face. We have much to discuss!” Viktoria said, easing herself off of her mount with the awkwardness of someone who clearly was not used to riding horseback.
“Yeah, I think we do. Some kind of mystic chaos bullshit just broke all of my goddamn toys out of nowhere for no reason other than to give me a brain anyeurism. You’d think the chaos bastards would wait before commiting something like this, I mean they dont even have ground forces any more, how does this development make any sens-“
Viktoria interrupted the Colonel as his voice shook with incandescent rage. “So we’re all dead then, is what your saying”
“Yeah, basically” Gallus replied
Behind the two of them, the hulking Bae’nor marched up.
“WHATS THIS ABOUT DEFEATISM? THERE IS NO SUCH TRADITION OF FEAR MONGERING FOR THE ASHMEN OF ULLIANOR.”
Gallus turned to the noble.
“Besides dying in battle then, what would you propose, sir… ?”
“Bae’nor, of house Belgrade!”
“Right, right. What could we possibly do?”
Bae’nor took off his helmet and massaged his chin, which like the rest of his face was hairy and ashen.
“Perhaps house Gun can be of some assistance. This problem comes from the new large evil sky horse above this place, yes? The one thats in the process of crushing both of your other sky horses since half of their gun batteries stopped working and they were already desperately outnumbered to begin with?”
“I guess so” Viktoria said, shrugging.
“Then Bae’nor knows a way! Come, bring your warriors with us, we shall go into the mountain and you will see the great cities of our people.”
“Before that, can we please get this House Gun thing rolling. Your people have vox systems dont they, cant you just call this in?”
Bae’nor looked frustrated.
“But I was going to-“
“Tell you what Bae’nor, you speed this particular part of this up, and I promise you, we will definitely go do the city thing, right after. You can show me off to all your friends and maybe we could dance or something but FIRST the big dumb sky horse thing needs to stop doing what its doing, and I dont know how you intend to fix that but please just do it now and be done with it.”
Bae’nor blinked for a few moments, then gestured to one of his knights to bring a very old looking vox system over. He tapped at a few buttons.
“Curator! It has been far too long, I havent heard from you since last all-fathers feast. I have a favor to ask on behalf of house Belgrade.”
…
“Yes, that house Belgrade. The one that sent you all of those fine looking princes and princesses to marry off. Surely you cant have forgotten Stex Aphex an-
…
They all died? You dont say?! And when was this?!”
“BAE’NOR!” Viktoria shouted.
“Oh, right. I’m sure by now you’ve noticed the new sky horse, the big evil one attacking those good looking sky horses?”
“Yes, good, well we were hoping you could shoot a few arrows at it.”
Bae’nor listened for some time without speaking, then nodded and bid ‘Curator’ goodbye.
“Lady of Fire, I have made it so. House Gun. Look to the sky to see the gifts I have bought for you!”
Gallus, Viktoria, Heidi, and all the guardsmen looked up, and noticed that a few peculiar large domes were rising out of several sand-banks around the mountain.
“Theres no way.” Viktoria muttered
“Is that…” Gallus said, grabbing at his binoculars.
The nearest one produced a huge cannon from within a port in the dome.
“GET DOWN!” Gallus shouted, before the entire ring of massive planetary defense guns fired in unison into the sky, burning a huge hole in the cloudy sky. Through that hole a massive explosion could be seen.
As the sky filled with burning debris for the third time that day, the PDF guns quickly burrowed themselves under the desert sands again as the 4th realized much to their glee that lasguns apparently worked again.
“Thats the last time we’ll be able to use those this month. It takes a long time to make the shells, since all is done by hand. Now, shall we go?” said Bae’nor, gesturing ahead back towards the mountain.
